Baird Parker Agar Medium is used for the selective isolation and culture of Staphylococcus aureus.

Pancreatic Digest of Casein....10.0
Beef Extract...............................5.0
Yeast Extract.............................1.0
Sodium Pyruvate.....................10.0
Glycine....................................12.0
Lithium Chloride........................5.0
Agar.........................................20.0
Final pH 6.8±0.2 at 25℃
Directions:
Suspend 58.0 grams of the product in 950ml of distilled water, dispensing into bottles of 95ml, sterilize in an autoclave at 121 ℃ for 15 minutes. Before use, heat to melt the agar and cool to about 50 ℃, each 95ml is add egg yolk tellurite potassium enrichment reagent (thawed at room temperature) 5 ml, shaking well. Storing in refrigerator shall not exceed 48 hours before use.
Quality control and typical characteristics:
Culture at 36±1℃ for 45-48 hours, single colony of S. aureus is round, smooth, convex, moist, diameter 2-3mm. Dark gray to black, shiny, often has colored (non-white) edge, around it is opaque (precipitation) circle, a clear band outside.
