Xylose Lysine Desoxycholate Agar Medium is a medium used for the selective isolation of Salmonella.

Formula:

Xylose.............................3.5
Sodium Chloride.................5.0
Sodium thiosesulfate...............6.8
Ferric ammonium citrate........0.8
Sodium  Deoxycholate..........2.5
Phenol Red......................0.08
Agar..............................13.5
Final pH 7.4±0.2 at 25℃

Directions:

Suspend 57.0g of the medium in 1L of distilled water, do not overheat. Pouring into sterile petri dishes after cooling to about 50℃, partly open lid to dry for 30min to 2h, then cover . Need not autoclaving. Must use off in 24 hours.
